Rainforests

Often described as “Lungs of our Planet”, only in reverse, rainforests are very important as the plants take in vast quantities of carbon dioxide, the main ingredient in green house gases, and generate much of the Earth’s oxygen. Rainforests are some of the most amazing ecosystems on the Earth. They cover approximately 6 %of the Earth’s surface yet they contain more than 1/2 of the world’s plant and animal species! But we are losing this biological treasure at an alarming rate. If this trend continues, half our remaining rainforests will be gone by the year 2025, and by 2060 there will be no rainforests left. It is time to step in and save these precious ecosystem from complete destruction.
